Roman specialises in stochastic processes and parameter inference for microbial models. He did his PhD at the Max Planck Institute of Evolutionary Biology.

He enjoys football and running, watching movies, building electronics, and cooking.

Sonal is interested in understanding how metabolic interactions in microbial communities are shaped by nutrient stress. Currently, she (willingly!) studies yeast populations interacting via stinky gases.

In her free time, she enjoys social dancing and hiking.

Steven is interested in metabolic cooperativity, division of labour, and spatial structure in microbial communities. He completed his PhD at the University of Chicago.

Jamila models how the nutrient environment shapes microbial community dynamics. She previously studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge.

In her spare time, Jamila enjoys singing opera and playing D&D.

Chi-chun (not depicted) works on fundamental problems in evolution using experimental microbial systems.

David designs robots and other equipment to make previously challenging experiments much easier.In his spare time, David enjoys homesteading and gigging.
